Ryan Dungey strikes again in St Louis
Ryan Dungey continued his domination of the 450cc class
Ryan Dungey continued his domination of the 450cc class

Ryan Dungey has increased his incredible win tally by notching his eighth of the season inside the Edward Jones Dome, St Louis.

While Dungey starred in the 450cc class, Jeremy Martin catapulted his way back to the top step of the podium, collecting his second 250 East Coast win of 2016.

Dungey shot straight to lead on the opening as the Red Bull KTM rider collected the holeshot.

From there, Dungey recorded another 20 perfect laps on his way to victory.

The 450cc podium would be the same in St Louis as it had been at the prior two rounds, with RCH Suzuki’s Ken Roczen finishing second and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson in third.

Geico Honda’s Justin Bogle put in an impressive ride to finish a season best fourth, ahead of the factory HRC Honda of Trey Canard.

Australia’s Chad Reed, who rounded the first lap in 13th, would charge the entire 20 laps and finish a commendable sixth just ahead of Eli Tomac in seventh.

The second Monster Energy Kawasaki of Josh Grant finished eighth, followed by Justin Brayton and Mike Alessi in ninth and tenth respectively.

The wild fight for the 250cc East Coast championship continued in St Louis, as Martin rebounded from a DNF in Indianapolis to gain his second win of the season, and is now only 16 points out of the championship lead.

Aaron Plessinger backed up his victory in Indianapolis with an impressive second place, and now sits a mere one point out of the championship lead with three rounds remaining.

TLD KTM’s Shane Mcelrath finished in third place, followed by Geico Honda’s RJ Hampshire in fourth and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki fill-in rider, Gannon Audette, rounding out the top five.

Privateer rider Anthony Rodriguez finished in sixth, trailed by TLD KTM’s Alex Frye in seventh.

St Louis would prove to be a rough night for current championship leader Malcolm Stewart, as a poor start resulted in a dismal eighth place for the Geico Honda rider.

With his main championship competitors finishing first and second, Stewart relinquished the comfy margin he held in the championship, and now leads by one point.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers finished ninth, and Paul Coates in tenth.

Dungey continues to lead the 450cc championship with 328 points, followed by Roczen with 280 and Jason Anderson with 260.

Stewart leads the 250 East championship with 115 points, followed by Plessinger with 114 and Martin on 99 points.

Monster Energy Supercross now heads to Foxborough, MA, where the Gillette Stadium will host round 15 of the championship.
