The start light gantry at the Vailo Adelaide 500 has been lowered to ensure visibility for those at the head of the grid.
This weekend’s event marks the finale of the first season of Gen3 Supercars, which feature a lower roofline and smaller ‘greenhouse’.
The start lights have thus been lowered by 350mm so that those who qualify at the front of the field will be able to see them properly tomorrow and Sunday afternoon.
So far this year, any visibility issues which have arisen have been managed by leaving rows of the starting grid vacant.
That was to have been the case at Albert Park and did indeed occur at The Bend, but not this time around.
Visibility of start lights were also an issue when the halo was introduced to Formula 1 in 2018, with the gantry at the season-opener in Albert Park lowered on the Thursday evening and a set of repeater lights moved.
This year, Supercars has also made multiple tweaks to car windscreen markings during the season, to enhance visibility and accommodate the introduction of LED panels which display positions.
Whether that remains the case will depend on the outcome of the Top 10 Shootout, and a practice session will also be held in the morning at 09:45 local time/10:15 AEDT.
