Bathurst Regional Council has invited expressions of interest for a fifth major event at Mount Panorama.
The circuit is currently limited by state legislation to five full track closures per year, which leaves a slot open after the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Bathurst 12 Hour, Bathurst 6 Hour, and Challenge Bathurst, are accounted for.
A statement issued by council makes clear its ambition to fill that slot, with the town’s mayor, Cr Graeme Hanger OAM, calling for ‘experienced’ promoters to pitch ideas.
“Mount Panorama is an iconic motor racing venue and Council is keen to hear from experienced motor sport promoters about their ideas for a fifth motor sport event at the circuit,” said Cr Hanger.
“Each of the motor sport events currently held at Mount Panorama are unique in their own right. We are looking for options for a fifth event that adds to the offering available to motor sport fans at Mount Panorama.”
Expressions of interest close on April 23, the Tuesday following the Bathurst 6 Hour on the Easter weekend.
