A bizarre incident under Safety Car saw Jake Camilleri roll his MARC Mazda 3 in the pit entry lane during a ProdSports support race for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.
The incident occurred as Camilleri took to the lane for his compulsory pit stop, with Glenn Townsend in a Lotus Exige then also moving into the lane.
Making wheel to wheel contact, Camilleri’s car was launched skyward before rolling onto its roof and sliding down the grass to a rest near the apex of the final corner.
The field was under Safety Car for an incident for Craig Burgess, who slid into the tyre wall at Forrest’s Elbow after a clash with Aaron Tebb.
It was the second interruption of the race after Gary Higgon slid out of the race on the opening lap at Skyline, limping his unrestricted Audi R8 LMS down the mountain before coming to a halt on Conrod Straight.
Called early as a result of another Safety Car, this for a multi-car incident at The Cutting, Yasser Shahin won the race in an Audi R8 LMS.
