Boost Mobile boss Peter Adderton has rejected Supercars’ position on control uprights after the championship responded to his offer to fund the initiative for all teams.

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer has reiterated that the planned implementation for control uprights in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship shall be in 2022, in conjunction with the introduction of Gen3 regulations.

Adderton had advised Garry Rogers Motorsport, of which Boost Mobile is currently major sponsor, that he would not continue that backing without implementation of a control damper package next year, threatening the team’s future participation in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

However, in a statement issued the day after the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, where he had delivered the ultimatum, Adderton then offered to fund control uprights for all teams, including DJR Team Penske and Triple Eight Race Engineering, in the interest of greater technical parity.

Supercars responded with a terse comment from Seamer, ending with the line, “If that doesn’t suit some people, then so be it,” which has prompted Adderton to restate his threat to leave the championship via social media.

Boost Mobile also backed the wildcard Kostecki Brothers Racing entry in a deal announced for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 only.
