John Bowe has sensationally put an end to his 23-race winless streak during the final race of the Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters weekend at the Sydney Masterblast at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The Holden Torana SLR/5000 driver started the final lap in fourth position, passing Ryan Hansford (Torana A9X) before taking second off Aaron Seton (Ford Boss Mustang) at Turn 6.
He then quickly reached the back of race leader Ryal Harris (Chevrolet Camaro), out-muscling the Camaro driver to the line, ultimately recording his 97th series race win.
Despite finishing second, Harris had banked enough points throughout the weekend to claim his maiden round win with appearances on the podium in all three points-paying races.
Hansford finished the weekend with a podium finish in third ahead of fourth-placed Seton and series leader Steve Johnson in fifth.
Earlier in the day, Harris claimed victory in Race 15 of the series with a last lap pass on Seton at Turn 4.
Bowe also slipped by Seton, finishing on the tail of Harris by just 0.1197s. Further back, Hansford denied Seton his second podium result that day as the duo crossed the line third and fourth respectively.
Seton concluded the weekend second overall with a race win on Saturday and two fourth place finishes.
Hansford finished third overall with two third place finishes and a fifth on Saturday.
With two rounds remaining, Johnson now leads the series outright on 785 points, 60 points ahead of Bowe in second (725) and Harris in third, a further seven points behind.
Jim Pollicina retains the lead in the ProAm class on 624 points while Allen Boughen keeps control of the ProSport class 245 points.
The series moves onto Mount Panorama supporting the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on October 10-13.
