Matthew Brabham and Mitch Evans have been named among six drivers who will take part in an Audi Sport DTM young driver test this week.

Taking place at Jerez, Spain over three days from Tuesday, the rookie testing is a tradition among the DTM manufacturers, with BMW and Mercedes also set to field a fleet of youngsters.

Although Audi has no vacancies in its 2016 DTM line-up, the test will mark an opportunity for 21-year-olds Brabham and Evans to impress amid a crossroads in their respective careers.

US-based Brabham has been without a full-time ride this season after failing to raise the budget to remain in Indy Lights or step up to IndyCar.

Brabham will complete the test before flying to Australia for the Coates Hire Sydney 500, where he is racing in the Stadium Super Truck category.

Evans meanwhile has endured a trying season in GP2, taking an impressive fifth in the series with the struggling Russian Time outfit.

The Kiwi has his sights set on sportscars next year, although the weekend’s announcement that Porsche will not field a third entry at Le Mans marks an early blow to his hopes of a top line drive.

Joining the two Australasians at Audi for the Jerez test will be Euro F3 runner-up Antonio Giovinazzi, 30-year-old karter Ben Hanley, GP3 race winner Alex Palou and GP2 runner Arthur Pic.

Audi will have two of its DTM regulars, Miguel Molina and Mattias Ekstrom, on hand to assist the youngsters at the test.
