Porsche Supercup ace Matt Campbell will cut his first laps in a Triple Eight Holden Commodore at today’s in-season test at Queensland Raceway.
The Queenslander has jetted back from Europe for a flying visit which will include a couple of runs in the #97 Commodore, he will share with Shane van Gisbergen in the upcoming Pirtek Enduro Cup.
Campbell has been enjoying a successful stint in the Porsche Supercup this season, resulting in a podium on debut at Spain’s Catalunya circuit, followed by a fifth at Monaco last month.
The 22-year-old is eagerly anticipating his first laps behind the wheel of the Triple Eight Commodore ahead of a full co-driver test later this year.
“It is just a quick trip back to Australia and obviously it is good to come back and see everyone,” Campbell told Speedcafe.com.
“I’m excited to have my first steer of the car and get a taste for it and get ready for the rest of the year.
“I just want to make sure I’m comfortable in the car and get some mileage.
“It is good to get to know everyone in the team.
“It is a really good opportunity partnering Shane and being a part of the team. I’m very lucky that Porsche have allowed me to do it.”
Fellow Pirtek Enduro Cup co-driver Tony D’Alberto is also set to conduct laps in the #12 DJR Team Penske Ford Falcon today.
