Brad Jones Racing’s Dale Wood has been recruited to fine tune Jim Pollicina’s Kumho V8 Holden Commodore ahead of this weekend’s round at Phillip Island.
Wood tested the ex-Tasman Motorsport Commodore at the Victorian circuit last week to assist Pollicina with car set up to boost his Kumho V8 championship campaign.
Pollicina is 48 points adrift of series leader Liam McAdam in third heading into the penultimate round of the championship.
The experienced New South Wales driver is confident Wood’s run in the car has unearthed information to help close in on the podium at Phillip Island.
“In the last round at Queensland Raceway, we didn’t quite find the optimum set-up window and we were battling for most of the weekend, yet we still managed to finish third overall,” said Pollicina.
“Since then, we’ve made a lot of improvements and developments to the car, to make it work better through fast, flowing corners.
“The test day at Phillip Island enabled us to verify those developments, and we were also fortunate enough to have Dale Wood doing some laps in the car, which allowed us to accumulate some useful data.
“The car feels like it’s a significant improvement since QR, and I think we’ll be pretty close to the mark so hopefully we can continue our run of podium results.”
Phillip Island will host three Kumho V8 races this weekend with the first scheduled to begin at 1410 on Saturday afternoon.
