Pasin Lathouras has walked away from a frightening crash at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
The Ferrari driver appeared to lose control heading through Eau Rouge, colliding heavily with the barrier on the driver’s left towards the end of the second hour of racing.
The heavy impact tore away much of the Ferrari 488’s rear end before bouncing the car back towards the racing line at Raidillon.
Lathouras was able to climb out of the stricken car and walk to the medical vehicle, and was confirmed as uninjured by race officials soon after.
The race was neutralised behind the safety car as the cleanup followed, the race order shaken up in the process as a number of teams elected to take their stops.
That promoted the Stephane Ortelli driven #14 Emil Frey Jaguar into the lead after the first hour had been been dominated by the #55 Ferrari of Giancarlo Fisichella, before the #63 Lamborghini Huracan took over at the front in the second hour.
