The majority of the Formula E field has taken part in a group test of the new Gen 2 car at Monteblanco ahead of its introduction next season.

Formula E launched its new car earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, before seven teams took part in a two-day test this week.

Boasting a larger battery, the new car will mark the end of mid-race car changes in the all-electric series.

The two day test, spread across three days with a rest day in the middle, was a closely guarded affair, however images have emerged from a shakedown test performed by DS before it headed to Monteblanco.

On duty at the test was 2016/17 champion Lucas di Grassi for Audi, and 2014/15 champ Nelson Piquet for Jaguar.

Nissan, Mahindra and DS were also on track, while Venturi shared its time between Michael Benyahia and Tom Dilmann.

Absent was BMW, which encountered “an unexpected malfunction” when loading the car for the test, and instead elected to remain at base.

The NIO team also opted to sit out the test, having previously stated it didn’t fit in with its preparation plans.

A second test is scheduled at Calafat circuit, located south-west of Barcelona, next month.

The current Formula E season continues with its first visit to Rome for Round 7 later this month.
