Ford Performance Racing is urging V8 Supercars fans to vote for its engine technician, Jake Dempsey, as this year’s Cleo Bachelor of the Year.
The 28-year-old is one of 50 currently in contention for the award, with voting set to close in under a week’s time.

The Cleo contest has been running for 20 years, and in 2006 featured the soon-to-be V8 Supercars Champion Rick Kelly.
Dempsey works in the five-strong engine department at FPR’s Melbourne factory. At race events looks after the powerplants and doubling as a wheel changer on the pitstop crew.
“It is definitely something that is well outside my normal comfort zone and I think I will be the underdog of the top 50,” he said of the competition.
“The guys I met on the bachelor photo shoot were media personalities, renowned scientists or charity workers so I am not sure where V8 Supercars engine technician fits in there!”
Dempsey’s time at FPR has been split by a stint at Dick Johnson Racing, helping James Courtney to the 2010 title.
His racing experience also includes time in the United States training at NASCAR’s Technical Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina.
