Tony D’Alberto has contracted the virus chicken pox and could miss this weekend’s L&H 500 Phillip Island.
The Wilson Security Racing driver got the first symptoms of the itchy illness yesterday.
D’Alberto drove the car in the first practice session at Phillip Island today. He will be seen by V8 Supercars’ Dr Carl Le after the session.
Fujitsu V8 Series regular Taz Douglas has been given approval by V8 Supercars to race in D’Alberto’s place, if required.
Douglas sat in the Wilson Security Racing entry this morning, and is preparing to complete his first laps in the car in the fifth and final practice session.
Team owner Al D’Alberto confirmed the illness but was hopeful that Tony will be fit to race.
