Chip Ganassi star Scott Dixon is determined to break a frustrating string of narrow misses at the third round of the IndyCar series at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama this weekend.
Dixon has remarkably finished second at the 17-turn road course in every IndyCar race held since 2010.
The defending series champion has had to play second fiddle to Penske’s Will Power (2011/2012 winner) and Helio Castroneves (2010) and Andretti Autosport pilot Ryan Hunter-Reay last year.
“I guess you could say I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the track,” Dixon said.
Dixon is also in ownership of four consecutive second placings at the Chicagoland Speedway from 2006-2009, which is the only other time a driver has strung together that amount of runner-up placings consecutively at the same circuit in the last 50 years.
Meanwhile in latest Indy Lights practice at Barber, Matthew Brabham has turned the third quickest time behind Gabby Chaves and Luiz Razia.
Brabham’s Andretti Autosport team-mate Zach Veach was fourth fastest.
