Triple Speedway World Champion, Jason Crump has been cleared of injury to his troublesome collarbone after a crash during the course of the British Speedway Grand Prix at the weekend.
Crump slammed the airfence on the exit of turn four on the opening lap of heat 12 when his bike gripped on the racy surface. Having just returned from surgery to his right collarbone after an accident in Russia – organised with the assistance of Mark Webber and Red Bull, the vision of the British born Queenslander cannoning into the airfence right elbow first left many to fear the worst.
Overnight, the Aussie was cleared from the suspected collarbone fracture, however he will be on the sidelines until the F.I.M. Speedway Grand Prix World Championship resumes next weekend (September 8) at Malilla in Sweden – traditionally a happy hunting ground for him.
Adding insult to injury for Crump in missing his final ride and walking away with a mere six points was that countryman, Chris Holder put in a command performance to win the biggest Grand Prix of them all for the second time and close to within one point of the Championship lead.
All is not lost for Crump though – in this incredibly tight 2012 season, he remains in fourth placing in the World Championship, 15 points from Championship leader, Greg Hancock with three rounds to go. If there is one man you can count on fighting when he’s backed into a corner, it is Jason Crump!
