Kayne Scott has taken the inaugural pole position in New Zealand’s V8 SuperTourers Championship at Hampton Downs today.
The #99 Holden driver will start on the front row of the grid, alongside Kiwi hero Greg Murphy.
Scott, engineered by long-time V8 Supercars engineer wizard Oscar Fiorinotto, said that it was great to be on the pace, considering that the build of his car was only completed days ago.
“It has been a massive build up,” Scott said.
“We were late in the build, and too be honest, we’ve only just finished building it. We’re pretty pleased with this.”
Andy Booth, yesterday’s pace-setter Scott McLaughlin, Jonny Reid, Andy Knight, Andre Heimgartner, Ant Pedersen, Eddie Bell and Steve Richards rounded out the top 10.
Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Richards, driving the CRC-sponsored Falcon for John McIntyre Racing, endured a spin at Turn 1 and was lightly collected by Development V8 Series regular Geoff Emery. The pair will line-up 10th and 15th respectively.
Carrera Cup legend Craig Baird will start 11th while Richards’ team-mate and team owner John McIntyre will start from 13th.
The first race of the V8 SuperTourers will start at 3.10pm (NZ time) today.
