Kelly Racing has launched a huge sale of its wheel inventory just days after V8 Supercars announced a control wheel would be phased in over the next two years.
Kelly Racing has 168 rims earmarked for sale, including various models from A-Tek (6-spoke, 8-spoke and 10-spoke) and OZ (5-spoke and 16-spoke).
In an initial offering to the team’s Kelly Gang membership group yesterday, the feedback was extraordinary, instantly selling a good number of wheels.
The aim of the Kelly’s wheel sale is so it can start the 2010 season with as many of the new Team Dynamics control wheels as possible.
“As of Phillip Island next year, we have to run the new control wheel for qualifying and racing on all four of our team’s cars so we would like to start the 2010 season on the new wheel so that we can run with the same wheel all season,” said Kelly Racing’s Joe Bremner.
“We were keen to get in early and kick off this sale of the current wheel inventory as it not only helps our team, it also gives the fans a chance to get the wheels at a very good price.”
Prices range from $150 to $250 each depending on the condition of the wheel (approximately 25 percent of full retail price for a new rim).
