Jack Le Brocq has wrapped up the 2012 Australian Formula Ford Championship with a clean-sweep performance at Bathurst today.
The CAMS Rising Star driver picked up from where he left off in Race 2, leading the field into Hell Corner at the start of the third and final race for the weekend.
Le Brocq was never headed during the shortened race (cut by one lap), building a healthy lead to win by 4.5487s from Mathew Hart.
Anton De Pasquale steered clear of trouble to score a pair of third placing’s in Race 2 and Race 3, but his fifth place result in race one allowed Sam Power to take a career-best second overall, with Mathew Hart rounding out the podium in third.
Race 3 was shortened following after Jordan Lloyd crashed at The Cutting on the penultimate lap of the seven lap encounter.
The Formula Fords created good racing across the course of the weekend and his was highlighted on Lap 4, when Lloyd and Macauley Jones went side by side at high speed through The Chase.
In Race 2 earlier this morning, Le Brocq put in a stellar performance on a damp track to lead home Power by 3.2s.
The wet conditions made for exciting racing as the AFFC field negotiated there way around the famous mountain circuit.
Macauley Jones was caught out by the wet track, spectacularly going airbourne after he ventured through the gravel at on the inside of The Chase.
Jones recovered to finish in fifth position as he continues to build experience in his first visit to the track.
Finishing in sixth was David Sera, who put in a career best performance in his Coates Hire-backed Mygale SJ011, one place ahead of championship contender Mathew Hart.
Team BRM’s Simon Hodge was the only non finisher in a field of 15.
In other AFFC news, Gary Jacobson has been released from Orange hospital after overnight surgery on his fractured right arm after his huge qualifying accident with Shae Davies.
The 20-year-old also suffered a sprained ankle, but was cleared of any neck and spinal injuries.
