Jordan Lloyd maintained his dominance in the CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship by recording a double victory at Sandown.
Lloyd enjoyed a relatively trouble free run from pole position to the chequered flag in a frantic Safety Car interrupted opening encounter.
The championship leader had opened up a healthy lead until Harry Hayek neutralised the race when he crashed into the tyre wall at Turn 4 in the early stages.
Despite witnessing his lead disappear, Lloyd held his nerve to take the win from Thomas Randle, who completed an impressive recovery drive from ninth on the grid.
Randle was aided in his rise through the field by several incidents, although impressive pace in the final laps saw him pass Will Brown and Jordan Love to climb to second.
Brown claimed the final place on the podium on the road after he followed Randle in passing Love.
However, a post race 30 second penalty was issued to Brown for his involvement in pitching Tom Grech into a spin on the race restart, which demoted the AGI Sport driver to eighth.
Fourth placed Love was also handed a five second penalty for contact with AGI Sport’s Jimmy Vernon while the pair were fighting over second position on the second lap of the race.
As a result of the penalties, Vernon, who finished the race in fifth, was awarded third with Love remaining in fourth.
Team BRM’s Frankie Maiolo, who was turned around by Luis Leeds on the opening lap, was promoted to fifth with debutant Caitlin Wood in sixth.
Tom Grech was awarded seventh ahead of the penalised Brown with Leeds, who stalled from his front row grid slot, in ninth.
Team BRM duo Hayek and Zane Goddard were the only retirements from the race.
The former exited the race on lap 4 which prompted the Safety Car, while Goddard came to a halt after a wild moment at Turn 9 on the opening lap.
Lloyd produced a rapid start from sixth to emerge in the lead by Turn 4 of the opening lap in Race 2.
Once in front, Lloyd proved untouchable as he took his second win of the weekend from Randle and Love.
Grech finished fourth ahead of Hayek, Leeds and Goddard.
Vernon was involved in another incident at Turn 1, this time he and Maiolo ran wide at the start while battling for the lead.
The incident saw him come home in eighth in front of pole-sitter Wood.
The CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship will return to action for a third 15 lap race at 11:05 on Sunday morning.
