Jorge Lorenzo topped the times in the MotoGP official test at Brno just 24 hours after a disastrous run at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion headed a Yamaha 1-2 after posting a personal best 1:55.394s time, which proved to be 0.371s clear of team-mate Valentino Rossi.
Lorenzo’s display follows a difficult run in Sunday’s Czech GP which saw the Spaniard finish a lap adrift in 17th position after encountering a number of tyre issues.
Yamaha tested several new upgrades during the test which included a new chassis, swingarm and the latest software updates from Magneti Marelli.
Lorenzo and Rossi completed 103 laps between them during the test held in dry conditions.
The session was briefly halted following an oil spillage which required a red flag period to allow circuit staff to clear the fluid from the track.
Championship leader Marc Marquez emerged third fastest for Honda 0.7s shy of Lorenzo.
Cal Crutchlow was fourth as he continued to impress following his surprise maiden MotoGP win at the circuit on Sunday.
The sole Suzuki of Maverick Vinales clocked a time good enough for fifth as team-mate Aleix Espargaro sat out the test due to injuries sustained at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Bradley Smith (Tech3 Yamaha), Dani Pedrosa (Honda), Pol Espargaro (Tech3 Yamaha), Scott Redding (Pramac Ducati) and Tito Rabat (Marc VDS Honda) completed the top 10.
Yamaha World Superbike rider Alex Lowes enjoyed a brief run on a Tech3 machine which saw the Brit clock 15 laps and suffer a minor crash.
Australia’s Jack Miller was absent from the test as he continues to recover from fractures to his T6 vertebra and wrist following a warm-up crash at the Red Bull Ring.
The factory Ducati and satellite squads Avintia and Aspar teams opted out of the test.
