Not everything has gone Marcos Ambrose’s way upon his return to V8 Supercars action at Sandown, with the former two-time champion copping a $5,000 fine.
Ambrose performed a practice start during Friday afternoon’s ride session, which is a breach of the regulations.
While a $5,000 fine was levied, $2,500 has been suspended.
Ambrose’s actions were the only driving infringement on Friday in a clean day of track action that saw all three practice sessions run devoid of red flags.
The DJR Team Penske Ford was in the top 10 for the entire day, with Ambrose starring on the way to third fastest in the final hit-out.
Today will see Ambrose perform a race start for the first time since Albert Park in March as he takes to the track for the co-driver qualifying race at 1400 local time.
