Snow postpones Martinsville NASCAR race

The STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway has been postponed to Monday (local time) due to heavy snow which has blanketed the circuit.

The sixth race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series had originally been scheduled for a mid-afternoon start on Sunday before officials made the decision that morning.

Action will now commence approximately 24 hours later than originally planned at 1400 local time, meaning a 0500 AEDT start on Tuesday for Australian viewers.

Last-start winner and series leader Martin Truex Jnr will take the green flag from pole in the #78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota by virtue of owner points after qualifying was washed out.
