Jack Miller has declared himself ‘fitter than ever’ as he prepares to join Marc VDS Honda for the opening MotoGP pre-season test at Sepang.

The rising Australian star endured a challenging second season in the premier class that saw him claim a maiden win at Assen, while injury forced him to miss five races.

Miller has spent the off-season undergoing surgery to remove plates and pins from his right leg which he fractured in a pre-season crash last year.

The Queenslander broke his foot in a crash at Austin before suffering a fractured vertebra and wrist following an incident at the Red Bull Ring in August.

After an intensive training regime in California, Miller feels he is in the best shape of career ahead of the three-day test, which begins on Monday.

“It’s been a busy winter break,” said Miller.

“First came the surgery to remove the screws and plates from my leg and then it was straight into rehabilitation and training to make sure I was fully fit for the start of the new season.

“The last few weeks have been spent in California, mostly training in the gym and on the bicycle, but I also managed a few outings on the MX bike as well.

“I’m down to the same weight I was when I was in Moto3 and I’m starting this season fitter than ever before.

“Now we head to Sepang, where I’m looking forward to seeing what Honda have brought for us to test.

“I ended last year pretty well with a positive outing at Jerez and I hope we can continue in the same way in Malaysia next week.”

Two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner turned his first laps of the year when he kicked off his Ducati test rider duties in a private outing on the GP17 at Sepang this week.

The MotoGP season begins at Qatar from March 24-26.
