Australia’s rising MotoGP star Jack Miller says he is yet to sign a deal for next season as he continues to assess his options.
The Queenslander is assessing his options for next season with his three-year deal with the Honda factory set to expire at the end of the campaign.
Reports have claimed Miller is set to leave the Marc VDS Honda squad for the satellite Pramac Ducati operation next year.
The Townsville rider says he is yet to sign a deal and commit to an option for a fourth season in grand prix motorcycle racing’s premier class.
Miller admitted he does have an offer from Pramac Ducati which is among options that include staying at Marc VDS Honda for a third season.
Currently enjoying a mid-season break from MotoGP, the 22-year-old winner of the 2016 Assen TT says he will focus on his future plans after his factory Honda ride at the Suzuka 8 Hours from July 28-30.
Pramac Ducati could present a strong option for next year with the team recording two podiums this year, courtesy of Danilo Petrucci.
“At the moment nothing is signed,” Miller told Speedcafe.com.
“My main focus is on the Suzuka 8 Hours and once get that out of the way I will be able to focus back on what our decision is for next year.
“We have got a few offers here there and everywhere and of course we have an offer from Pramac, but we are just trying to find out what is the best option for next year in terms of package.
“The Ducati GP17 looks like it is performing really well. Danilo Petrucci (Pramac Ducati rider) has had two podiums and Andrea Dovizioso (factory Ducati rider) has had two wins, so it is not a bad looking bike.
“In terms of satellite teams, Pramac looks like a really positive satellite team.
“I have really enjoyed my time so far where I am currently at the Marc VDS squad and we have just got to see what our options are and the length of contract.”
Since the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, Miller has focussed his attention on his Suzuka 8 Hours bid, which has seen him conduct tests with the Honda squad at the famous Japanese circuit.
The event will see Miller contest his first superbike and endurance race of his career.
He will share the entry with Japanese riders Takaaki Nakagami and Takumi Takahashi.
Preparations have been successful with the trio second fastest in the pre-event test.
“The Suzuka 8 Hours is something I have always wanted to do ever since I became a road racer,” he added.
“To get the opportunity to go there with a factory HRC team is awesome and to go there with such competitive team-mates, to put on a proper challenge is awesome too.
“I’m really looking forward to getting there.
“The Superbike is different, it is a really strong bike. There is a lot less power than my MotoGP bike, but it is a lot of fun.
“It is great experience and to have the full support of Honda is fantastic.”
