Mitch Evans has cliched a dramatic GP3 Series victory in the category’s season finale at Monza, Italy, today.
After starting from pole but suffering a DNF in the first ‘feature’ race, the New Zealander’s title fortunes were in the hands of others. His only title rival, Germany’s Daniel Abt, started from eighth and needed to win the race to snatch the crown.
Abt lead the event until the second last lap before Tio Ellinas passed Abt, assuring Evans the title.
