James Moffat ended the opening day’s running at The Bend Motorsport Park fastest ahead of this weekend’s round of Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia.

Continuing his strong form from recent races, Moffat topped both practice sessions, lowering his own benchmark by over seven tenths from the first session to the second.

The Wall Racing driver left his run late in Practice 2, sitting out much of the opening half before his first flying lap moved him half a second clear of team boss David Wall at the top of the session.

It was an effort that could have been even faster, Moffat losing half a second in the final sector of the lap as he caught slower traffic.

He ended the day four tenths faster than Michael Almond and Jordan Love, the Sonic pair split by just one hundredth of a second.

Jaxon Evans had been second fastest in opening practice but slipped to fourth best after he found just three tenths between sessions.

The leading five runners in Practice 2 managed times under that set by Moffat in the morning.

Adrian Flack proved the fastest of the Pro-Am runners, his 1:52.9755s lap in the second practice session ninth fastest overall.

Carrera Cup is next on track for qualifying at 1210 (local time) on Saturday ahead of a 20 lap race at 1450.
