Chaz Mostert is looking forward to expanding his horizons by competing in this weekend’s Asian Le Mans Series opener in China.
The Prodrive Racing Australia driver will head to the Zhuhai International Circuit where he will pilot a BMW M6 GT3 for AAI Motorsports.
The outing will provide an ideal warm-up for the FIA GT World Cup event at Macau next month, which will see Mostert again partner with the AAI Motorsports squad.
Mostert received a call up from BMW to compete in the prestigious one-off GT3 race on the Macau streets from November 17-19.
The Vodafone Gold Coast 600 winner has only previously raced GT3 machinery at this year’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
Mostert, who is lying fourth in the Supercars standings, is eager to enhance his GT racing knowledge.
“I’m super-pumped to make the schedule for the end of year racing wise a bit busier,” Mostert told Speedcafe.com.
“Hopefully I can draw from some of the experiences I will have in China to help in New Zealand (ITM Auckland Super Sprint) next weekend.
“I’m very excited to go overseas and race in a different category and widen my experience level, so I’m looking forward to it and hopefully I can have a good solid result.
“I think anytime you have your bum in seat it is great. I liked racing the GT3 cars at the Bathurst 12 Hour and it will be great to do more of it.”
Prodrive has confirmed to Speedcafe.com that Mostert is hoping to add further Asian Le Mans Series races to his schedule if possible.
The Asian Le Mans Series will head to Fuji, Japan from December 1-3, before a visit to Buriram, Thailand (January 11-13), ahead of the season finale in Sepang, which clashes with the Bathurst 12 Hour.
It is likely Mostert will be recalled to race for BMW at Mount Panorama in February.
