The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 has won a TV Week Logie Award.

Network 10 was presented with the award for coverage of the 2017 Great Race which took out the Most Outstanding Sports Coverage at the annual television awards ceremony.

Last year’s race proved to be another fascinating instalment that was won by Erebus Motorsport’s David Reynolds and Luke Youlden.

It is the seventh time the race telecast has won a Logie Award for Most Outstanding Sports Coverage.

The coverage is produced by the championship’s in-house Supercars Media operation with the broadcast taken up by Network 10 and Fox Sports.

The Bathurst 1000 claimed the award ahead of the 2017/18 Ashes Series, the 2017 AFL Grand Final and Australian Open Men’s Final and the Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao fight.

Last year’s race was watched by an average national audience of 1.9 million peaking at three million on Network 10. It was among the top three programs on the day on Fox Sports.

“The Bathurst 1000 is about the drivers, it’s about the fans, it’s about the Mountain, it’s about story-telling. I’m really proud to accept this on behalf of the story we told in 2017 on Ten, especially from Mark Larkham, who told the story of one lap like it’s never been told before, edited by Aaron Hare.

“On behalf of our CEO Paul Anderson who comes to more races than probably we do, to our producer Frank Smith, to our incredible on-air team and production team, but mostly to everyone at Channel Ten who stuck it out in a pretty tough 12 months, this is for you guys.”

This year’s Bathurst 1000 will once again be broadcast live on Ten and Fox Sports.
