Nick Percat has brought the Peter Brock Trophy to Ipswich this weekend in order to share his 2011 Bathurst success with a team of hard working locals.

As part of the lead up to the Coates Hire Ipswich 300, the 23-year-old visited the Ipswich store of Coates Hire, swapping stories with those of the employees who played a key role in rebuilding the surrounding area following the floods of January 2011.

Much of southern Queensland was devastated by the floodwaters, and while their store was spared the carnage that affected so many others, the Coates Hire Ipswich team arranged vital plant and equipment to help with the clean-up and rebuilding processes.

“To see what they’ve done here in Ipswich and the massive rebuilding of the community is impressive,” said Percat after his store visit, which coincided with a barbeque for its employees and customers.

“It is amazing to see how this store played a big part in that.”

Percat is currently competing in his third Dunlop Series season, and sits third in the standings after three rounds.

Despite taking a race win in each of the last two rounds, Percat says he remains focussed on scoring solid points this weekend.

“The first thing is to be in on the podium again and have a consistent weekend,” he said of his goals.

“If the wins come, that’s a bonus, but the goal is to be in the top three and get consistency back in my year.”
