Marty Perovich may have led every lap of the opening Thunder Thru the Plains event but the likeable Sydneysider didn’t have it all his own way.

Perovich started on pole position but it was the highest point-scorer, Troy Little, who came from the second row at the start, who applied immense pressure up front.

Little took advantage of lapped traffic being endured by the leader to take over the front running on the high line only to have the yellows fly for two separate and unrelated incidents.

After Perovich was placed back in front for the restart and he opened up a handy lead until lapped traffic played a part once again. This allowed Little to close in on the leader but it was Perovich who proved too strong holding on for a narrow victory.

Adrian Maher crossed the line in third in aboard the Integrity Locksmiths/ Loudoun Family Racing machine.

“Anyday you can beat the likes of Troy (Little) and Adrian (Maher), you’ve had a good day. The track was awesome tonight, it would be a pleasure to come back here and race again,” said Perovich.

Glenn Saville crossed for fourth in the Karting World entry with Steve Caunt claiming a top-five finish in the Fire Service Plus Maxim.
