Victory in the 2013 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 has provided Mark Winterbottom and Ford Performance Racing with a major boost heading into the final three events of the 2013 season.
The 32-year-old teamed with Steven Richards to defeat Jamie Whincup’s Red Bull Holden in a thrilling finish to Sunday’s race.
The result has seen Winterbottom close to within 128 points of his arch rival’s championship lead.
Winterbottom has been the perennial bridesmaid in V8 Supercars since joining FPR in 2006, finishing each of his seven season’s with the team in the top five in points – including five in the top three – without taking a trophy.
