Porsche has blitzed qualifying for the Nurburgring 6 Hour race by sweeping to a one-two romp.

As the FIA World Endurance Championship resumes following its summer hiatus after Le Mans in June, Porsche claimed its fourth pole position from as many races.

After earlier topping final practice, the #18 Porsche 919 Hybrid with Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas carrying out the qualifying duties set the best two-lap average in 1:36.47s.

Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard were pipped by just .06s in the #17 919 Hybrid.

Audi had shown promise in early practice but its #8 R18 e-tron quattro could not trouble Porsche with Oliver Jarvis and Lucas Di Grassi third.

The sister Audi of Marcel Fassler and Andre Lotterer was fourth, replicating what the four-ringed maker achieved in final practice.

Toyota saw the #1 TS040 Hybrid of Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi in fifth.

In LMP2, Nick Tandy and Matt Howson sent the #47 KCMG ORECA Nissan to the top with a combined best of 1:46.13s ahead of Julien Canal and Sam Bird who qualified the #26 G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan.

Ferrari set the benchmark in the GTE Pro and GTE Am classes.

Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander put the #51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 on pole for the first time this year with an average of 1:54.27s in the Pro class.

The SMP Ferrari continued its pacesetting form in GTE Am with the Russian squad taking pole.

Victor Shaytar and Aleksey Basov combined for a 1:56.528 average.
