F1 star Kimi Raikkonen has explained that his salary at Lotus made him leave for Ferrari.
Raikkonen had been on an $8million euro retainer with Lotus which included bonus clauses where he would earn up to $50,000 euro for every world championship point earned.
There were also believed to be complications with delayed payments, some of his earnings from 2012 are alleged to have not been paid until this year.
“The reasons why I left from the team are purely on the money side, and the things I haven’t got, my salary,” Raikkonen said in Singapore.
Raikkonen says he can work in harmony with Ferrari incumbent Fernando Alonso despite fears the pair could be on a collision course.
“I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. We are old enough to know what we are doing and the team is for sure working for the right things,” Raikkonen said.
