Rain is set to play a major part in the much-anticipated international drivers test at Queensland Raceway today, ahead of this weekend’s Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The session started at 8am in wet conditions. The circuit dried soon after but as At 10.15am, the circuit has been hit by another consistent shower, but by 10.30am, the rain had cleared and the circuit was drying.
All 18 Gold Coast international drivers are at the Ipswich-based track.
The only major drama of the morning so far has been a mechanical fault on the #888 TeamVodafone Commodore VE. The car was towed off the track. Three-time World Touring Car champ Andy Priaulx is conducting all of the running in the car today while regular driver Craig Lowndes sits on the sideline.
No spectators are allowed into the circuit today, with a large number of fans turned away. They will have to wait to see the international stars in action on Friday at the famous Surfers Paradise street track.
