Renault has become the latest team to take take the covers off its 2018 Formula 1 car.

Following the trend of low-key announcements, the team launched its car via a series of videos on social media.

The French marque has again adopted a traditional corporate yellow and black livery, though sports more black than in previously seasons.

“Renault Sport Formula One Team’s ambition is clearly to uphold the outstanding record of the past and the 2017 season has confirmed we are on the right track,” said Renault Sport Racing President Jérôme Stoll.

“Enstone is regenerated and the workforce has already increased by more than 35%.

“The success of the programme in just two years is testament to the resilient plan laid down early in the creation of the team and the strong job done by Cyril and the entire Renault Sport Racing teams.

“I am convinced year three will take us one step closer to the long-term aim: winning races and challenging for championships.”

“We have everything to be positive about this year,” added Cyril Abiteboul, Renault Sport Racing managing director.

“Our headline target is to show continued progression through results.

“We want to be able to showcase our progression in every regard; power unit, chassis, operations, drivers. Everything must improve and we must continue to grow.”

Renault has enjoyed multiple spells in Formula 1 since making its debut in the 1970s with a factory team.

Throughout the 1990s it became the dominant engine supplier, winning world championships with Williams and Benetton.

It then purchased the Benetton team, which was re-branded in its own name, winning titles with Fernando Alonso in the 2000s, with four more titles as an engine supplier to Red Bull after it stepped away as a manufacturer in 2010.

In late 2015 it confirmed it had bought back its former team, which has been run under the factory name since 2016.

Drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz remain with the team for 2018, the latter in a loan arrangement from Toro Rosso.

Renault will join the rest of the Formula 1 field at Barcelona next Monday for the opening pre-season test of 2018.
