Ryan Dungey’s AMA Supercross hot streak continued in Oakland, California

Ryan Dungey has increased his winning streak to three following the Monster Energy AMA Supercross round at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California.

Dungey was sublime in the 450cc field, propelling his Red Bull KTM to the front from the outset.

With three consecutive race wins, Dungey has boosted his points lead to a 22 points just four rounds in.

RCH Suzuki’s star rider Ken Roczen finished a promising second, showing that the 21-year-old is slowly progressing his way back to race winning form.

For the first time, the Red Bull KTM team had two riders on the podium with 450cc rookie Marvin Musquin finishing a career best third place.

The Frenchman diced with Roczen for half of the main event, before settling for the final place on the podium.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson continued his consistent run in 2016, fighting through the field to finish fourth.

Starting outside of the top ten, Australia’s Chad Reed put in an incredible charge, slicing his way through the field to finish fifth.

Reed continues to hold down second place in the points.

HRC Honda’s Cole Seely finished sixth with Eli Tomac, Jake Weimer, Justin Brayton and Wil Hahn completing the top 10.

Australian Lawson Bopping finished an impressive 17th place, a strong showing for a privateer effort.

In the 250 class, the championship was turned on its head on lap 13 of 15.

Cooper Webb appeared to be cruising to a fourth consecutive race win when disaster struck.

Webb’s Star Racing Yamaha expired on lap 13, allowing Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy to capture a career first main event win.

After pushing his motorcycle to the mechanics area, Webb’s YZ250f managed to be repaired, however he would finish the race in 21st and subsequently score no points.

In another career best performance, Colt Nichols collected an impressive second place finish for the small Rock River Yamaha team, and established his name as a 250-class podium threat.

Geico Honda’s Christian Craig finished in third place after a fall whilst leading, matching his third placing at the round prior.

Mitchell Oldenburg finished a strong fourth, fending off a late charge from Zach Osborne.

Privateer duo of Kyle Peters and Michael Leib put their names on the map with sixth and seventh place rides respectively, followed by Kyle Cunningham, Jimmy Decotis and Cole Thompson rounding out the top ten.

Out of the Australian 250cc contingent, Hayden Mellross finished in 13th place, whilst Luke Clout suffered a crash in practice resulting in a broken femur.

Dungey continues to lead the 450cc series with 97 points from Reed and Anderson who are tied on 75.

Savatgy now leads the 250 class with 78 points ahead of defending champion Webb with 76 and Zach Osborne a further three markers back on 73.

The series now heads to Glendale, Phoenix, for round 5 of the AMA Supercross championship next weekend.
