Minda Motorsport’s Liam Sager hauled himself into Australian Formula Ford Championship contention after collecting his second victory of the weekend.
The race proved to be an eventful one in the context of the championship but it was another slick drive from Sager which has boosted him up to third in the title race.
Sam Power led the field from the start but behind there was carnage at turn 1 when title contender Macauley Jones was involved in a crash.
The incident also wiped out Thomas Randle and Simon Hodge.
Once racing resumed, Power soon had to look in his mirrors and at turn four as Sager dived down the inside to grab the lead.
Out in front Sager calmly drove to the chequered flag, finishing ahead of Power and championship leader Anton De Pasquale.
Luke Marquis came home in fourth ahead of rookie Jordan Lloyd.
Chelsea Angelo secured a career best finish by crossing the finish line in sixth.
As a result, De Pasquale has extended his championship lead over Jones to 28 points with Sager now 46 points adrift.
Meanwhile Trent Young managed to steer clear of any trouble to win both eventful Aussie Racing Cars encounters.
Young made no mistake from pole in race one and he eventually led home Tyler Owen and Nathan Townsend.
A spin from Jeff Waters brought out the safety car on lap eight which helped provide a cracking scrap for third between Townsend and Simon Smith, with the former triumphant.
Championship leader Maurice Masini finished 10th after making a costly error at the turn 1 chicane on the opening lap.
Young was forced to come through the pack in the reverse grid second race and it took him just four laps to grab the lead after starting from 10th position.
While Young followed by Owen moved up the to the front there was plenty of action behind.
Gavin McAlpin lost control out of turn four and he was collected by two other cars.
This saw the introduction of the safety car and that was how the race finished behind the pace car, with Young taking the win from Owen and title leader Masini.
David Sieders edged further ahead in the V8 Utes Championship after recording a lights-to-flag victory in race one.
Sieders ensured he had the best get away from the lights and he led the pack into turn one.
While the lead pack managed to navigate through the opening chicane, Ryan Hansford was punted into a spin but luckily he was able to recover.
At the front Sieders began to edge away ahead of Nathan Pretty and Rhys McNally. The real battle for the race was for fourth with Ryal Harris eventually winning the dice with Kris Walton.
Siders held firm at the front and he took the flag by 1.3s from Pretty and McNally.
