Stone Brothers Racing is the only Queensland-based V8 Supercar team that will drive back to its northern base before heading west to the Barbagallo Raceway’s V8 Supercar round in two weeks time.
Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing, Paul Morris Motorsport and Paul Cruickshank Racing will prepare their cars at Phillip Island before starting the trip to the Western Australian track on Tuesday.
According to SBR team owner Ross Stone, his decision was a matter of cost and time management.
“The thing is, you can get more done in three days at home than what you can on the road,”
“A lot of these guys are only working here until Tuesday and then they’ll pick it up over there. If you work out the cost of keeping three cars and the people on the road, accommodation and all that goes with it, and compare it with the cost to go back, it’s easier for us to head back to our base.”
V8 Supercar teams are required to ‘park up’ at Barbagallo Raceway on Thursday morning.
