Chris Holder has pulled through a major scare during his British Elite League Speedway match at home in Poole this morning Australian time, suffering a mighty crash where he was catapulted over the handlebars.
Initial fears were that he may have suffered a broken collarbone similar to Jason Crump’s accident in Russia last week. Nevertheless, Holder was quickly to his feet but returned to the pits complaining of chest pain and a hit to his elbow.
He was checked over by the medical staff and was quick to allay fears that he may have to pull out of this weekend’s FIM Croatian Speedway Grand Prix.
Crump has also been declared fit to race in Croatia this weekend following his surgery in Geneva, which threatened to derail his charge for a fourth World Championship.
He has been resting since his collarbone was plated and will not participate in the Friday practice in an effort to save it up for the showdown.
“I will be resting for the remainder of the week and will not practice on the Friday;” said Crump. “I will just be observing the others and seeing how the track shapes up and then looking forward to getting a good result on Saturday night. Fingers crossed I have a bit of luck on my side.”
Crump currently sits second in the World Championship, two points from defending Champion, Greg Hancock, whilst Holder is a further 12 points back in third placing.
