Experienced Paul Manuell will be paired with young Scott Harrison for the maiden V8 SuperTourer endurance event at Taupo from September 1-2.
The M3 Racing squad this morning confirmed the signing for the Orix-backed Commodore in the Father’s Day 400 meeting which features two 200km races with a refuelling and car inspection in between.
Harrison has been targetted as a huge talent after showing form in the Suzuki Swift Cup which gave him an opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Porsche 997 series 911.
The Whangarei-based Harrison will make way for John Penny for the final two V8ST endurance races at Pukekohe and Ruapuna.
Harrison is booked to have a test in the Orix Commodore at Pukekohe next Thursday (August 16).
Penny will miss the Taupo long distance race due to another commitment but has fired up to return for the second and third V8ST enduro legs after testing at Pukekohe.
“The test at Pukekohe has got me all fired up, there’s no doubt about that,” Penny said.
“The car is incredible to drive and is a credit to the team and from a driver’s point of view, what a field to be racing in.
“Everyone will have seen it getting close to the pace as the sprint series progressed and we are optimistic we can put on a great show at Pukekohe and Ruapuna and what a field to be racing in, these cars are amazing.”
M3 Racing is preparing all three of its V8 SuperTourers for Manuell, Greg Murphy and 20-year-old Richard Moore.
