Senior marshals from theSingapore Grand Prix converged on the Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin to gain extra ‘hands-on’ training for this September’s Singapore Grand Prix.
In total, 32 senior marshals from Singpore visited the Darwin circuit, helping local officials and learning the art of race control and management.
Included in the 32 officials was the Clerk of Course and Chief Marshal for the Singapore Grand Prix. The Singapore GP has over 800 officials involved.
Raziff Hamid, one of the 32 senior officials in Darwin, was assisting the sector marshal at Turn 1 and told Speedcafe.com.au that he learnt a lot from his first visit to an Australia motor racing event.
“We are here for training and experience,” he said.
“We don’t have any races in Singapore except for the Formula One, so this is the only chance for us to get some training.
“The reason for us coming out is to pass on our experience to the other marshals during the race in September.
“I learnt so much. The people here are so experienced and so competitive. I think that we all learnt a lot. It’s my first time in Darwin and I very much enjoyed it.”
The Singapore Grand Prix is the 15th round of this year’s F1 World Championship and will be held on September 24-26.
