State Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan lobbied the Queensland Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie to extend the deadline for public submissions following the visceral reaction.
Bleijie is also the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Minister for Industrial Relations.
On Thursday, Doolan received confirmation from Bleijie that the deadline had been extended by 10 business days.
In a letter to Doolan, Bleije thanked the MP for raising concerns about the local community’s “lack of awareness” over the proposed development.
The Deputy Premier asked that Corbet’s Group host an additional information session before the deadline.
“The consultation period for the MID commenced on 29 April 2026 and is currently due to end on 11 June 2026,” the Deputy Premier said in his letter.
“In response to community concerns and your strong advocacy as the local Member, the proponent of the MID will be requested to extend the consultation period for an additional 10 business days, thereby ending on 25 June 2026.
“The proponent will also be requested by my Department to hold an additional community meeting during this period, to ensure every member of your community has the opportunity to ask questions and have their say on this proposed development.”
The proposal has been made through the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID), bypassing the local council to be assessed by the state government.
Public submissions can be made via the Queensland Government website HERE.
If it gets off the ground, Moreton Motorsport Park would play host to speedway and motocross.
