Queenslander Stuart Bishop has lowered the Top Doorslammer track record at Adelaide International Raceway in the latest round of the ANDRA Drag Racing Series.
Bishop’s 5.076 set in cold conditions was the quickest time laid down by the Doorslammer competitors in the Friday night competition. Only one qualifying session was held when the extremely cold conditions led to dew closing the track.
The Brays – Ben and Victor – were second quickest, some two tenths of a second off of Bishop’s time with Marty Dack, Maurice Fabietti and John Zappia all lapping around the six second mark. Adelaide uses the 1000 feet (300 metre) distance rather than the regulation 400 metre quarter mile.
Just six cars fronted for qualifying in Pro Stock, with Aaron Tremayne, Wayne Daley and Tyrone Tremayne setting representative times. Aaron Tremayne’s 7.012 was a new track record as well.
Luke Crowley was quickest in Pro Stock Motorcycle from Maurice Allen and Glen Wooster.
The remainder of qualifying, followed by eliminations fires into life at 1pm local time today at Adelaide International Raceway.
