Tekno Autosports topped the times in opening Australian GT Championship practice at Highlands Park which was shortened after a heavy crash for the Objective Racing McLaren.
The McLaren duo of Grant Denyer and Blancpain Endurance Series champion Come Ledogar headed the field with a 1:32.22s effort before red flags flew with seven of the 40 minutes remaining on the clock.
Practice was halted when Tony Walls clouted the wall hard which saw his McLaren 650S end up broadside on the entry to the bridge with severe damage to the front of the car.
Walls climbed out of the McLaren 650S under his own power.
The Craig Baird/Michael Almond Scott Taylor Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 was second fastest, 0.31s adrift of the #59 Tekno Autosports entry.
Tekno Autosports’ #61 entry of Nathan Antunes and Elliot Barbour was third quickest ahead of the #2 Jamec Pem Racing Audi of Garth Tander and Steven McLaughlan.
The factory Nissan GT-R GT3 of Michael Caruso and Matt Simmons end the session fifth despite suffering damage to the left side of the car after hitting the Turn 2 wall.
Reigning Australian GT champion Chris Mies had topped the times early in the session, before slipping to seventh 1.57s shy of the leading pace.
Hampton Downs 101 winner Roger Lago was eighth in the Lamborghini ahead of John Martin/Liam Talbot (Walkinshaw Porsche 991 GT3-R) and the #37 Klark Quinn (McLaren 650S).
The Australian GT field will contest a second 40 minute practice session at 1115 local time ahead of two 30 minute qualifying session this afternoon.
