V8 Supercars has confirmed that three officials sustained injuries during Chaz Mostert’s crash in qualifying at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

A total of seven had been at the marshals’ post that was clipped by Mostert’s Ford as it rode the concrete wall on the entry to Forrest’s Elbow.

Although an initial update from V8 Supercars reported that four were injured, a clarification has confirmed three injuries, with one taken to hospital.

“V8 Supercars can now confirm that seven officials were involved in the incident with driver Chaz Mostert during qualifying at today’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000,” read a V8 Supercars statement.

“Four were not injured, two were treated at the circuit medical centre for minor injuries and one was taken to Orange Hospital by ambulance in a stable condition.”

V8 Supercars confirmed late on Friday evening that the hospitalised marshal has been cleared of neck, chest and brain injuries.

Mostert is also at Orange Hospital having been airlifted from the circuit, diagnosed with a broken left femur and left wrist.

Police joined medical crews at the crash scene following the accident.

Damage to the circuit’s fencing spelt an end to track running for the day, with qualifying now set to be run on Saturday morning.
