The popular Tin Tops category will make its 2021 debut next month at Symmons Plains.
Tin Tops ran at Townsville, The Bend and Bathurst last year, encompassing cars from Porsches to Super3 to GT.
The diverse support class will be branded as the Tassie Tin Tops for April 10-11 action at the Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint.
“We’re working with the local support categories over in Tassie so we’re going to bring some cars from the mainland over to race with the boys in Tassie,” category manager Nathan Cayzer told Speedcafe.com.
“It’s just to build a field that works well and is also good for the Tasmanian government to have some money coming over to support the Tassie boys over there.
“We anticipate we’re going to have 20 to 25 cars. I think we’ll have quite a selection of cars which we know will work from the rounds that Paul [Morris] and I did last year.
“It’s certainly something that will be a good spectacle for the punters at the track.”
Asked if Tin Tops could further feature later this year, Cayzer said, “I think there’s certainly scope for it. It’s something that is an ongoing discussion with Supercars.
“It’s certainly a field of cars that we can turn around and fill a hole pretty quick to help Supercars out.”
Tasmania will host the third round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship, following action at Sandown this coming weekend.
