Touring car legends survive huge Bathurst crash
Andrew Miedecke
Andrew Miedecke’s Camaro and Glenn Seton’s crumpled Falcon after the Conrod Straight shunt

Australian touring car legends Glenn Seton and Andrew Miedecke have escaped unscathed from a horror shunt during a Touring Car Masters race at Mount Panorama.

The pair have clocked up countless laps around the famous 6.2km circuit, but they would never have experienced a crash as violent as the one that beset them on lap two in Saturday’s Touring Car Masters race.

Reaching speeds of 250km/h plus the Chevrolet Camaro of TCM title contender Miedecke collided with wildcard runner and former double Australian Touring Car Champion Seton on the Conrod straight.

It appeared something failed on Miedecke’s car which speared him into Seton with both cars slamming into the concrete wall, coming to halt just before The Chase.

The crash immediately brought out the Safety Car.

Luckily both drivers escaped unhurt and they have both visited the medical centre. It is understood the drivers are suffering from shock and have both gone back to where they are staying for this weekend’s meeting.

While the crash was the talking point of the race, Eddie Abelnica came through the Safety Car interrupted race to claim victory from Adam Bressington and Jason Gomersall.

The XB Falcon of Abelnica took the lead on the final lap with a slick move on Bressington after long time leader Mark King suffered a mechanical problem at the end of lap two.
