Carrera Cup Australia leader Warren Luff has been drafted into the Craft-Bamboo Racing team Aston Martin for the opening round of the GT Asia series in South Korea this weekend.

Luff will replace team mainstay Stefan Mucke in one of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.

The other Vantage will be handled by former Bathurst 12 Hour competitor Frank Yu.

Mucke will miss the round at the Korean International Circuit as he is required as Aston Martin’s factory driver in the VLN series at the Nurburgring.

“Partnering with Frank Yu in an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 car will be a great honour for me, as I have always wanted to drive in the GT Asia Series,” Luff said.

“And with a professional outfit like Craft-Bamboo Racing it is a dream come true.

“GT Racing is a lot different to the V8 Supercar Endurance racing we are used to here in Australia.

“The aero grip of a GT car really suits my driving style and the prestige of the field has great appeal.”

Craft-Bamboo was recently formed following the merger of the two established teams ahead of its first opening in the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Bamboo founder Richard Coleman assumes the role as chief executive of the new squad.

Fellow Aussie-based V8 Supercars Pirtek Enduro Cup driver Craig Baird will also head to Korea this weekend as part of Clearwater Racing’s line-up.

Clearwater’s second car will be driven by GT Asia debutants, Korean driver Tacksung Kim and Malaysian GT driver Natasha Seatter.

Qualifying for the GT Asia Series is scheduled for 10am local time on Saturday followed by Round 1 at 14:20 and Round 2 on Sunday at 14:25.
