Waters scores Ipswich Dunlop Series pole

Cameron Waters on his way to pole position

Cameron Waters on his way to pole position

Cameron Waters’ relentless charge in the Dunlop Series continued as he secured pole position for round five at Queensland Raceway.

The Prodrive Racing Australia driver set the pace from the outset before eventually lowering his benchmark to a 1:10.68s with an effort late in the session.

Jack Le Brocq emerged as Waters’ nearest rival with the Matt White Motorsport driver 0.14s adrift of the series leader.

Reigning Dunlop Series winner Paul Dumbrell will head row three in the Eggleston Motorsport Holden Commodore as he edged the Ice Break Falcon of Chris Pither by 0.02s.

Brad Jones’s Racing’s Andrew Jones will start Saturday’s 19 lap race from fifth alongside South Australian Todd Hazelwood in the iSeek Falcon.

Eggleston Motorsport locked out the fourth row with Garry Jacobson and Ant Pederson, while James Golding and Aaren Russell completed the top 10.

Teenager Bryce Fullwood impressed throughout qualifying to snare 14th on the grid ahead of experienced V8 competitor Simon Evans.

Paul Morris was ruled out of the session after his Ford Falcon suffered serious damage following a fire in Friday practice.

The first of three Dunlop Series races at the Coates Hire Ipswich Super Sprint will begin at 15:30.
