SP Tools will underpin the Team Porsche New Zealand entry of Matthew Payne in the 2021 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia series.
Payne will compete for the Earl Bamber-led squad this season off the back of winning the 2021 Castrol Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand.
“It’s a real honour for Matthew to partner with such a prestigious brand for Team Porsche New Zealand’s first season in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia,” said Bamber.
“After our unforeseen break in 2020, the PCA team has done an amazing job with the 2021 calendar and we are looking forward to getting back to the track.”
SP Tools will also provide naming rights backing to the Mechanic of the Year award, recognising the category’s unsung heroes.
“Carrera Cup Australia mechanics are the unsung heroes of our series and often don’t get the recognition they deserve, working tirelessly throughout the season, ensuring that all the cars stay on track and perform at their optimum,” said Porsche Cars Australia head of motorsport Troy Bundy.
“While their work is vital in the success of every driver’s performance, their efforts are often unnoticed behind the scenes.
“So we are delighted to announce our partnership with SP Tools for the Mechanic of the Year Award, as it will provide recognition to the great work these mechanics do to ensure both the drivers, and the series, remain a success.”
The Carrera Cup season will kick off this Friday with a three-day event at Sandown.
